London Chamber Music Society

Sonare make our debut at the London Chamber Music Society, with a programme that celebrates the beautiful surroundings in which we will be singing.

On his 1824 trip to London, Felix Mendelssohn visited St John's Waterloo, where his friend SS Wesley was Director of Music. During his time in the UK, Mendelssohn would meet many of the most gifted British composers of the time, on whom he had a profound influence. The concert features hidden gems from some of these composers, as well as music by Mendelssohn, his sister Fanny, and two incomparable German imports that Mendelssohn brought to Britain: Franz Schubert and JS Bach.
